Milan Fashion Week
Late February sees Milan Fashion Week, actually something of a misnomer these days as the various shows have sprawled out of the original seven-day event. This is where you see the styles debuted for Autumn and Winter, from the myriad designers who live and work in the northern Italian city. Armani, Dolce e Gabbana, Prada, Gucci and a host more display their designs at the various women’s, men’s and showroom events. The third week in February is the turn of the women’s designs, ‘Milano Moda Donna’.
You need an invitation to get into the shows at the Milano Fashion Center, Milan (there are four fashion show halls, at Montenapoleone, Manzoni, Spiga and Borgospesso, and a sports hall at Velodromo Vigorelli) but this is a great time to visit Milan nonetheless. The place is thronging with visitors, the shops are bustling, there are lots of parties and a real buzz about the city.
