Venice International Boat Show
Running from 8-16 March, the Venice International Boat Show could hardly have a better setting than this city of water. There are hundreds of exhibitors, boats, displays of boatmanship out on the water, and the show centres on the Stazione Marittima. Venice, of course, was once a hugely powerful maritime nation, with a powerful navy and an empire that stretched across Europe. The Serene Republic is much reduced these days of course, but the show brings sailing craft right back into the heart of Venice (plus jet skis and numerous other ways, fast and slow, of crossing water). There are further events at Vega, the Molino Stucky Hilton and the Arsenal, with free shuttle services to get you around.
